Overseer Limited does not provide training on using OverseerFM, but it does provide a detailed user guide and user videos – these can be found in our user portal
We also work with key industry organisations to engage with our customers on significant changes in the software or our business.

Upcoming Events - OverseerFM Demonstration Workshops for Farmers

In June 2018, Overseer Limited released the game changing new OverseerFM software. This new software saves time by making it easier to enter and share data. Time savings from using OverseerFM have been calculated at 25-50% depending on the complexity of the farm system. We introduced a farm account subscription charge for this software in February 2019.

To support the transition to OverseerFM, and the new subscription funding, over 150 rural professionals have recently attended workshops held around the country. We are now following that up with a series of workshops for farmers.

Overseer Limited and Federated Farmers are keen for farmers to get the most from their annual subscription to OverseerFM – to use it as a decision support tool, as well as in regulation or industry certification schemes and to use it in collaboration with suitably qualified rural professionals to assess different management options on your farm.

This is a free event and there is no need to register

Finding professional advice

Providing meaningful Overseer analyses requires a sound knowledge of farm systems, nutrient management options and an understanding of how the science model works.
We recommend seeking advice from a trained professional when creating a farm analysis that will influence your farming decisions.

Finding an accredited adviser

The industry has developed the Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme  in response to the growing need for sound advice on nutrient management. This programme certifies individual advisers using a transparent set of industry standards. Their  website  has a list of individual advisers and their contact details.

Farm analyses required for industry reporting or compliance purposes may require this certification or a similar level of training or experience.

How can I learn more?

A good first step is to read the Technical Description of Overseer that provides a general summary of the science model for people new to Overseer.
OverseerFM has a comprehensive user guide which can be downloaded from within the software.

Courses that provide training in Nutrient Management

Comprehensive training in sustainable nutrient management is available through the Sustainable Nutrient Management courses provided by the Fertiliser and Lime Research Centre at Massey University. The two courses – intermediate and advanced – are the foundation of the Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme.
Massey University, Lincoln University and Waikato University include Overseer as a part of their undergraduate agricultural degree courses.
